In an open letter to Washington, Lori Trahan condemns resistance for gun control and outlines her plan for reform:
Trahan would “ban the magazines and assault style military weapons designed for soldiers, not citizens” and work to create a Select Committee on Gun Violence to bring people together to find solutions.
She cited her experience working to pass campaign reform legislation in a Republican Congress as an aide to then-U.S. Rep. Marty Meehan, a Democrat.
“We cannot continue to stand by and let the frequency of these mass shootings lull us into helpless resignation,” she wrote. “Gun violence should not continue to fall victim to partisan politics. Our children’s lives are at stake.
