Opioids & Substance Abuse
Lori believes we are losing too many of our loved ones to the opioid epidemic. Addiction and substance use disorders impact the lives of people from Boston to Tyngsboro to Springfield, and across every income level.
We need to change the culture around substance use and promote rehabilitation.
- Lori wants to empower communities to enact programs that teach adolescents about drug use and addiction across the state of Massachusetts.
- Lori believes we need to step up and provide more federal dollars to support prevention, treatment, and transitional programs.
- Destigmatize substance use disorder treatment. Lori sees that too often, those who need help dealing with substance misuse are too embarrassed to ask for it, or else are afraid of the consequences to their life if they do. Lori wants to create a supportive, healthy attitude about recovery and encourage those struggling with addiction to take charge of their health and well-being.
- Prioritize rehabilitation and treatment over incarceration for low-level and nonviolent drug offenses.
