Haverhill Mayor Fiorentini endorses Trahan for Congress
HAVERHILL, Mass (Oct. 23, 2018) — Jim Fiorentini, the longest serving mayor of Haverhill, endorsed Lori Trahan, Democrat for Congress in the Third District, at a Tuesday night rally.
The eight-term mayor said it is “vital that we keep a Democrat in this seat.”
“Lori shares my priorities of providing affordable health care to all Americans and in passing a new infrastructure bill to begin rebuilding our nation’s roads, bridges and other infrastructure,” Fiorentini said. “I am confident Lori will do a great job representing Haverhill and looking out for our interests in Washington D.C.”
Trahan thanked Fiorentini for his support and praised his work in the downtown area of the city. More than $250 million has been invested in the downtown under his watch, including 600 new housing units, a thriving restaurant district, and tourism on the river.
“He’s a reminder to all of us of why we run for office and why we want to serve. It’s the people. It’s about doing the job you’re elected to do. It’s about making a difference,” Trahan said. “In Washington, I want him to know I will be his partner. I will deliver the grants, funding and support he needs to continue this vision. I will also hold up him up as an example to other communities in this district, communities who are looking for their own renaissance, and show them how to do it the Haverhill way.”
