LIUNA Locals endorse Congresswoman Trahan for re-election
LOWELL, Mass. (Oct. 24, 2019) – Democrat Lori Trahan proudly announces the endorsement of several local Laborers unions in her re-election bid for Congress in Massachusetts’ Third District.
Trahan, who was first elected to Congress in 2018, said she was both honored and humbled by the support of Laborers International Union of North America Local 429, Local 175, Local 243, Local 1421, Local 609, and Local 560, which collectively represents the majority of laborers from across the Third District.
“As the daughter of a union ironworker, I understand how critical unions are in protecting workers rights’, ensuring their families’ well-being and rebuilding America’s middle class. More than any other time in our history, we are seeing a roll back of hard-earned union rights across the country and in Washington,” Trahan said. “In Washington, I will continue to stand with unions to raise the minimum wage, protect their rights to organize and collectively bargain for fair wages and safer working conditions. I am so honored to have the support of the Laborers and as long as I’m in Congress I will fight for families like the one I grew up in across this great district.”
Tommy Erikson of Local 429 of Greater Lowell praised Trahan for her work in Congress on behalf of union workers and their families.
“Laborers serve as the backbone of our workforce, fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, and a better life for our families. Lori Trahan is doing the same work in Washington, fighting for us and fighting for our families,” Erikson said. “Now, more than ever, we need elected leaders in Washington standing up for labor and supporting unions like ours. Lori stands with us and that is why we stand with Lori.”
