Local 1714 is 4th Firefighters Union to Back Congressional Candidate
LOWELL, Mass. (March 30, 2018) – Democratic candidate for Congress, Lori Trahan, today announced her campaign has received the endorsement of the Marlborough Firefighters Local 1714. Their endorsement marks the fourth firefighter union to come out in support of Trahan, having received the backing of Local 853 Lowell Firefighters, Local 3126 Westford Firefighters, and Local 1839 Chelmsford Firefighters.
“I am so honored to have the endorsement of the Marlborough Firefighters,” Trahan said. “The men and women of Local 1714 are role models of bravery and public service. When they are not risking their lives to save the lives of others, they are giving their time and resources to improve the community and its schools. I’m humbled by their support.”
Local 1714 President William Taylor was equally complimentary of Trahan.
“It was clear to us that Lori was the candidate most worthy of our endorsement very early on in this race,” Taylor said. “She has the skills and experience needed to be an effective leader for us and this district. She’s one of us. She’s a daughter of a union ironworker and a lifelong resident of this district. We’re confident that she will advocate for the families of this district and for the issues that matter to us.”
So far, Trahan has earned the support of seven labor unions in her campaign.
