Senator Edward Markey Endorses Congresswoman Lori Trahan’s Re-Election Campaign
LOWELL, MA — Today, U.S. Senator Edward Markey endorsed Congresswoman Lori Trahan’s re-election campaign in Massachusetts’ Third Congressional District.
Markey, who has represented Massachusetts in Washington since 1976 first as Congressman and subsequently as Senator, praised Trahan for her commitment to her district.
“Representative Lori Trahan has been a fierce and effective advocate for her constituents,” said Senator Markey. “From her efforts to ensure that protections are in place to prevent another Merrimack Valley gas explosion, to her work to combat the opioid epidemic, Representative Trahan has been an invaluable partner in the Massachusetts Congressional delegation. I am proud to support Lori and endorse her for re-election.”
“I am honored to have the support of Senator Markey in my re-election campaign. Senator Markey is a true public servant who has spent his career fighting for working families like mine. He has always been a leader on key issues of shared importance like environmental protection, ending gun violence, and addressing the opioid epidemic,” said Congresswoman Trahan. “I was especially proud to fight alongside him in pursuing justice for the families impacted by the Merrimack Valley gas explosion through our legislation, the Leonel Rondon Pipeline Safety Act. I look forward to continuing that fight in my next term in Congress.”
Trahan is also endorsed by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren who is now running for President. In her announcement, Warren praised Trahan for her commitment to working families by fighting for good jobs, strong unions, healthcare, Social Security and gun safety reform.
