AG Healey, Rep. DiZoglio, and Rep. Vargas endorse Lori Trahan for Congress
HAVERHILL, Mass. (Oct. 4, 2018) — Attorney General Maura Healey offered her full support to Lori Trahan, Democrat for Congress in the Third District, at a Thursday event in Haverhill.
“Lori Trahan is a fighter. She was born, raised and stayed in this District,” Healey said. “We know the girl who delivered the local newspaper, the young woman who waited tables at the local diner, the mother and businesswoman will be a Congresswoman who never forgets where she came from and who she represents in Washington.”
Trahan thanked Healey for her endorsement and praised the Attorney General for her work on gun control, combating the opioid crisis, and using her office to block any efforts by President Trump “to roll back progress on civil rights, healthcare, environmental protection or immigrants’ rights.”
“You are living proof that it’s simply not enough to get angry – we have to get to work in order to solve problems, effect change, make a difference,” Trahan said to Healey. “And that’s how I expect to approach my job in Washington.”
Joining Healey in endorsing Trahan was state Rep. Diana DiZoglio, who represents Haverhill, Lawrence, Methuen, and North Andover.
“It’s so easy to endorse Lori today, because she’s one of us. She gets it,” DiZoglio said. “She’s going to take our issues to D.C. She’s going to be a champion for us and I couldn’t be more proud to lend her my support today.”
Rep. Andy Vargas, who represents Haverhill in the State House endorsed Trahan as well.
“There are really three things that voters look for in a candidate, and Lori’s got all three of them,” Vargas said. “Does the candidate understand my problems? Does the candidate care about my problems? And does the candidate have the ability to solve my problems? Lori Trahan is that candidate.”
Healey, Vargas and DiZoglio were also joined by State Rep. candidates Christina Eckert and Christina Minicucci. Alexandra Chandler and Dan Koh, both of whom also ran for the Democratic nomination for the Third District, were in attendance and have offered their full support to Trahan as well.
